I also liked it a lot. My only complaint would be that it had almost too much Transformer action, at the expense of the human characters. It got to the point during some fast action that I couldn't tell who was fighting who, be it Megatron or another Decepticon that looked like Megatron.
My favorite part was the sound effects and score. Very cool sound design. The effects, including a sinking aircraft carrier were breathtaking. Utterly incredible visuals.
possible SPOILER!!!!!!
Interesting to note that TERMINATOR: SALVATION and TRANSFORMERS 2 were well aware of each other. TERMINATOR had a giant Harvester robot that looked like a Transformer. On the flipside, TRANSFORMERS had a female Terminator!!
For some reason I keep hearing from other people that it has no plot, which begs the question, did they even pay attention to the movie? The plot furthers the story from the first movie, and broadens its horizon.
Another problem I keep hearing from people is that some of the bots use vulgar language, or act like stereotypes. However, it is minimal throughout the whole movie in comparison, and its for comedic purposes.
Definitely a solid movie.

I would have to disagree.
The first movie focused on multiple characters, giving them (mostly) equal attention, whether they were human or transformer.
The sequel tightens the character involvement. Only a handful of characters (human and transformer) are really given most of the focus.

I think a lot of people thought the same. Many of the Decepticons had the same style, or even the same color schemes (gray/silver). The trick is to pinpoint the details; for example, Starscream is a triangular shape, while Megatron is bulky with huge feet.

I might possibly write some type of review about this later.
I've never been a fan of ultra-fast quick edits and camera movement. This ruins the action for me in movies like this, GLADIATOR, BOURNE trilogy, etc. I never watched a Transformers cartoon, so I need to get my info from these two movies. I was getting confused.
As far as character focus, I felt the filmmakers zoomed very quickly from one scene to the next, to the point where it was hard to get settled into each part of the story. Michael Bay is like that and I hate it.
The first movie did such a good job of establishing Sam and how his car (Bumblebee) chose him. You followed along and when the action broke loose, you were invested in it.
I did like the opening with the cavemen getting stepped on, but the China scene unfolded in a clunky, confusing way. I have a much higher threshhold for accepting noisy, fx laden - what other people would call "crap", than most. I enjoyed the movie and have some quibbles, but a lot of people are going to bag on this, bigtime. As I said, the pace and style of filmmaking is awful hard on a laymen to the this material.
I still don't understand why it takes a "Prime" to kill another "Prime". You would think that a few Bumblebee type robots could bring one down. Why even have the other robots fight, if there is a Prime involved?????
I finally got around to checking this movie out last night and it was pretty good considering the fact that they screwed up some of the characters and basically took a huge steaming dump on the storyline. Plus, listening to all the cackling idiots in the theater only added to the disappointment.
It was strange you know... Part of the film rocked in certain parts while the other half just completely huffed soiled jock straps!

I would have to agree with Mike and Skye. The decepticons looks too much alike, even megatron. And yes, the terminator like chic was so freaky. I kinda saw it coming, but damn was that cool. lol. One thing i did like, was they toned down the voice reverb a little and now Optimus sounded more like he did in the cartoons. The first movie muffled the actors voice too much. When I get the chance, I will def see this again and highly recommend it to those who have not yet seen it. Just know that it is a little long, so make sure to pack snacks. lol
I saw it in the IMAX theater at the Space Museum in Huntsville, AL. Unfortunately that theater has a spherically curved screen. The movie was not intended to be shown on that kind of screen. I suppose it would be OK on big flat IMAX screen, but on that one the picture was terribly distorted. I got nauseous. Plus the screen wraps around you. I got a sore neck from turning my head to keep up with the action. An all around (no pun intended) bad experience. I'll reserve judgment on the films merits until after I've seen it on a screen that does not put me through an endurance test.
